It’s Snowing, Literature, and Communication

(Did You Know I made a Video Yesterday? Because I made a video yesterday.)

So I had a moment of reliving my childhood, today, by playing in the snow. It’s something that doesn’t happen often, and led me to thinking about my childhood, how I used to be obsessed with Harry Potter books (honestly, props to my parents for coming with me to every single midnight release), and how literature, and written communication in general has changed.

What I’d like to see from you now (as I said in the video) is for you to comment here, or on the video, about two things:

What made you enjoy literature (a book, an author, or a story behind it)
A story written by you (any person can post a comment, of no more than three words, that can be led on to by another comment to form a story. When it’s finished I, along with others, will do a dramatic reading of it!)

It doesn’t snow often in Leicester (in fact, I think the last time was November/December 2010), but when it does, I can’t help but turn into a kid! There’s something innately fun about snow.

So, at 1:30am, I wandered out into the snowy, car-free streets of my neighbourhood (running into two other guys from my apartment building a snowman), and played. Then, naturally, I made a short, unfunny, unlisted video about it.

I’ve posted some high-resolution versions of the photoshoot I did with my lovely friend, Shelley Louise Smith, over on my Flickr account. Feel free to head over and appreciate her lovely face and-such.

So my friend, Shelley, and I decided to take a little stroll out in the bleak January night, of Melton Mowbray, and do an impromptu shoot. It wasn’t anything to take seriously, but something for us to do, to remind us of the fun of just picking up a camera and snapping.

For me, it was also a chance to experiment with using only my iPad 2, and the Snapseed App, to process and edit my images, straight from my CR2 files.

Shot on a Canon 5D Mark II (with a Canon EF 17-40mm f4 L USM, and a Canon EF 100mm f2.8 Macro USM lens). Pro-160 LED Light. Edited on an iPad 2, using Snapseed.

Remember that time I made another site…

Well the weird thing is that apparently some people did. 317 people, to be precise. Why is this so particularly insane - well approximately 9 hours ago, only about 5 people did. Huh. So thanks to the additional 312 people who subscribed to my DevBlog!

At any rate, I recently uploaded a new blog post to HOLFORD.me (links below), which include some high-resolution versions of my recently posted “In the Dark” photoshoot, with the simply wonderful Shelley Louise Smith.
